Biography
I am the owner of Line of Courage Counseling LLC, a private practice in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy for individuals and families across the lifespan. I provide services in person and through Telehealth (within Idaho). I specialize in supporting first responders, military service members, healthcare professionals, ministry leaders, and their loved ones, offering targeted care that acknowledges the unique stresses and cultural realities of these roles.
Before entering mental healthcare, I served my community in law enforcement for two decades, including work as a Special Victims Unit detective investigating child abuse, sexual assault, and commercial sexual exploitation. My professional experiences exposed me to a wide range of traumatic events and taught me how to hold space for people in their darkest moments—often serving as the voice for those who could not speak for themselves.
My clinical work integrates trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to help clients process distressing experiences, reduce symptoms, and rebuild functioning and meaning. I draw on practical skills learned in high-stakes environments—crisis management, clear communication, and confidentiality—while emphasizing empathy, safety, and collaboration. Whether addressing acute stress, post-traumatic reactions, grief, moral injury, relationship strain, or occupational burnout, my goal is to help clients regain resilience, restore hope, and move forward with purpose.
On a more personal note, I have been the wife of a first responder for over 20 years, and together we have raised three children who are the “why” behind all we do. That lived experience—partnering with someone who carries the weight of emergency work—has given me an intimate perspective on the ways trauma reverberates through family life.
Combined with my professional background, my personal history makes me a credible and compassionate witness to those suffering the emotional pain of unresolved traumatic experiences. I understand the unique challenges first responder families face: hypervigilance, emotional withdrawal, difficulty talking about distressing events, and the secondary effects that ripple through relationships and parenting. My goal is to provide a safe, informed space where individuals and families can process trauma, restore connection, and build practical skills for resilience and recovery.
